So the 10 semi-finalists were chosen but not announced in news.
And 3 break the watermark rule. AND most of them are just creative copies of the images we were given.
I'm sure that Tim Burton would be disappointed if he knew what other works were ignored.
There is no variety in the selection either. They are all digital paintings, and 3 of them use the same image.
My Girlfriend says none of the good works entered were even chosen!
What was the dA staff looking for? I thought they would at least think to acknowledge that a lot of entries look the same.
I think it's highly unfair to those who actually tried. If I just digitally painted over a photograph would that really make me an artist?
No.
I hope that maybe the word is spread about this unfair judging. They did say they were looking for technical skill. But holyshit, some of the unchosen had amazing technical skill involved! They matched the theme greatly! And they choose the image copies instead. It's just unfair. I'll never enter a contest again.
